Eighteen new initiatives have received funding through this year’s Student Partnership Agreement (SPA) Small Project Fund.
The fund offers funding of up to £1,000 to collaborative work between staff and students. The priorities for this year’s projects are:
- Wellbeing, mental health, cost of living and student accommodation.
- Transforming curriculum.
- Equality, diversity and inclusion.
Three of these projects showcase some of the activities that have been funded this academic year:
Supporting mature and access students
The Mature and Access Student Society is creating peer-led wellbeing workshops and events, supported by staff, to help students navigate university life and share lived experiences on topics like resilience, housing and finances.
Co-creating curriculum with alumni
A project in the Deanery of Biomedical Sciences is exploring how alumni tutors can help shape course content on an online MSc programme, building on their role in teaching and bringing practitioner perspectives into curriculum design.
Improving assessment through student input
A third-year Biology course is working with students to review and improve a new two-stage assessment, with the aim of refining the approach and sharing practical guidance with other teaching staff.
