The Research Impact Managers for CAHSS, CMVM and CSE have been busy preparing this year’s Impact Festival. Stanislava Dikova, Lena Lorenz and Monica Hoyos Flight tell us a little bit about the forthcoming Impact Festival.
When is the festival?
The Impact Festival will be held on Thursday 29 May at McEwan Hall.
What are the programme highlights?
This year’s programme includes a keynote presentation by Euan Adie, a University of Edinburgh alumnus and founder of Overton, focusing on tracking policy impacts. Attendees will be able to tailor the day to their interests by selecting events from the parallel sessions running in the morning and afternoon.
There will be plenty of opportunities to network throughout the day, as well as after the presentation of Research Impact Prizes during the Celebrating Research Impact event that will bring the day to a magical close!
Can you describe the festival in one sentence?
The Impact Festival celebrates how our research is making the world a better place through diverse engagement and partnerships.
Who can attend?
The festival is open to all researchers, postgraduate research students and professional services staff involved in supporting research engagement and impact activities.
What are the highlights from last year?
Last year’s inaugural festival took place over three days and offered staff from across the University the opportunity to learn about colleagues’ experiences engaging with industry, communities, policy-makers, the media, artists and practitioners to maximise the benefits of research.
What should people expect that is new or different from last year?
This year, the programme group has curated a one-day schedule of events with parallel sessions based on the over 50 proposals submitted to our call for ideas. There will be a mixture of workshops, panel discussions, presentations and exhibits, designed to spark conversation and inspire action. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to meet new colleagues and explore different approaches to further the impact of your research.
