New activities for 2025

If you’re looking for new ways to get active in 2025, we have a host of new activities for you to get involved in: 

  • In partnership with colleagues from Transport, Active Lives are delivering free social cycle sessions at King’s Buildings and BioQuarter – Social Cycle | Sport and Exercise 

 

New Years Honours

Double Paralympic Champion and associated athlete of the University, Stephen Clegg, was recognised in the New Years Honours List when he received an MBE for his service to swimming. 

Winter Sporting Success

Senior team call-up

First year student Murray Dickson became the first Scot in a decade to be selected for the senior Great Britain men’s water polo team. Murray competed at the World Aquatics Water Polo World Cup in December.

Swimming success

Many students were in sporting action over the festive period, including Principal Medal recipient Archie Goodburn who was in action at the World Short Course Championships. Archie matched his personal best in the 100m Breaststroke (57.81) and had a new season’s best in the 50m Breaststroke with a time of 26.51.

Welcome to our new Global Endurance Coach

Mark Rowland, Global Endurance Coach, arrived on campus earlier this month. A former Olympic steeplechase medallist, he will be tasked with elevating endurance performance standards at the University and beyond:
