Mental Health Champions – Movember 2024
This November, University of Edinburgh Sports Union sports clubs have proudly embraced the theme of Men’s Mental Health Champions in Sport as part of the global Movember initiative and International Men’s Day celebrations. The month-long campaign has shone a spotlight on men’s health issues, including prostate and testicular cancers and mental health challenges while fostering much-needed conversations to break the stigma surrounding men’s mental health.
New role for Claire Cruikshank
Our Head of Women’s Rugby, Claire Cruikshank, will be stepping down from her role to take on a historic new position within Scottish Rugby where she will be become the first ever professional rugby coach for Edinburgh Rugby Women.

Edinburgh Athletes awarded Winning Students 100 Scholarships
24 University athletes have been awarded Winning Students 100 Scholarships for the 2024/25 academic year.
The programme, which is funded by Sport Scotland and the Scottish Funding Council, aims to support student athletes along their performance pathways, enhancing international levels of success and helping student athletes balance their studies with high performance training and competition. Winning Students 100 provides athletes with grants of up to £3,000 and works with colleges and universities to offer additional support such as academic flexibility.

Staff Active Wellbeing Survey
Staff are invited to participate in the new University staff Active Wellbeing Survey.
We have launched this new staff survey to help us better understand the mental wellbeing of our University staff community and the impact of engaging with regular movement. The information gathered will help inform our future Active Wellbeing programme and service provision at the University.
