Good Research Practice Week: programme and nominations open

The Good Research Practice Week event programme is now open for booking.

The week celebrates our commitment to good research practice and a healthy research culture. It will conclude with an event to recognise good research practices among our colleagues and nominations for this are now open. 

Good Research Practice Week takes place from 3 – 6 February 2025 and is open to all researchers, including PhD researchers, professional services research support colleagues, and technicians.

Sessions on offer include: 

  • AI and ethics
  • Trusted research  
  • Narrative CVs
  • Ethical issues in open research and open data
  • Research culture and behaviour
  • Steering clear of predatory publishing
  • Good practice for researchers working with industry
  • Patient and public involvement in research
  • Support for when research comes under public scrutiny
  • And many more sessions throughout the week.     

There will also be sessions on time and workload management, and expanding recognition and reward in academia. 

Recognition of good research practice: nominations open 

As part of Good Research Practice Week, we will recognise the good research practices that are happening across the University. 

Nominations can relate to any area of good research practice. The main criteria are the practice goes above and beyond current standards; exemplifies high standards of good research practice and shows leadership in helping to embed good practices within the University and research community. 

Any current University staff member, PhD researcher, or team can be nominated. Self-nomination is also permitted but everyone nominated must work or study here.
