Coordinated by members of the Technician Steering Committee, Technician Week highlights career development opportunities and resources available to University technical staff, as well as providing opportunities to meet with peers and celebrate all things technician!
Events throughout the week included technician-led lab tours, workshops and meet-and-greets across our different university campuses.
An all-day conference also explored technician career pathways, providing an opportunity for staff to network, discuss practice, talk about CPD and explore the benefits of professional qualifications.

Kim Graham said: “Technicians play a vital role in the successful delivery of the University’s academic mission. They support our students during their teaching; our researchers with experiments, exhibitions and use of archival materials; and they help our external partners to access our cutting-edge facilities and support delivery of our innovation and commercialisation ambitions. Without technicians, we would not be the world-leading University we are today.”
Ashley Shannon said: “The Technician Awards aim to recognise technical staff who are excelling in what they do and have gone ‘the extra mile’ in their work and contribution to University over the last academic year. It was a privilege for Kim and I to present the awards and personally congratulate everyone for the exceptional contributions they have made to the University.”
Congratulations to the winners and all who were shortlisted.
