The event took place last October and brought together 300 of the University’s professional services colleagues who enable researchers’ work.
On the day, 65 colleagues from across the University ran 30 sessions. These were focused on three areas: developing and improving research support services; developing your technical knowledge of research support; and panels focusing on careers in research support.
Colleagues from across the University research support community shared their insights, expertise and best practice in a wide variety of presentations and workshops including: Research Funding and Finance at the University of Edinburgh and how it all works; Research Information Management Systems; Co-Design in Action; Supporting Researchers to win EPSRC Grants in the School of Engineering and the CAHSS Research Office Induction Programme.
Professor Christina Boswell shared details about the University’s new Research and Innovation Strategy and what it means for the University Research Support Community. Three of our inspiring academic colleagues shared stories about their research, with participants sharing that they particularly enjoyed hearing about the projects and research the University supports.
One participant said: “It was a really good day and inspiring to see so many of those that support research across the University, to catch up with old and new colleagues from across the University, and gain insights into areas that you don’t normally have a chance to have much understanding of.”
The conference was organised by a cross-University team, led by Edinburgh Research Office.
