Organised by the Technician Steering Committee, Technician Week will run from Monday 4 September to Friday 8 September.
The event will provide career development advice and resources, as well as giving the University’s technical staff the opportunity to meet with peers.

The following events will take place:
- Monday 4 September, 10am-2pm, Central Campus: Career Development: knowledge transfer and teaching
- Tuesday 5 September, 12pm-4pm, BioQuarter: Visibility & Recognition: professional registration
- Wednesday 6 September, 10.30am-4.30pm, Western General: Sustainability: sustainable labs
- Thursday 7 September, 10am-2pm, Easter Bush: Visibility & Career Development: digital profile and CPD
- Friday 8 September, 10am-2pm, King’s Buildings: Sustainability & Career Development: apprenticeships and succession
Technician Week 2023 will see the launch of the University’s first Technician Awards – a chance for staff and students to nominate technical staff who have excelled during the last academic year.
There are five award categories: Apprentice/Trainee Technician; Contribution to Learning and Teaching; Contribution to Research and Innovation; Contribution to Infrastructure and Facilities; Contribution to the University’s Community, Culture and Environment.

The event will also feature a Technician Image Competition, with the theme of ‘We Are Technicians’, which asks staff to submit an image conveying what it is that makes a technician.
