The Conversation

The University has joined The Conversation, a news website dedicated to publishing comment and analysis by academics for a general audience.

The University will be trialling membership for a year and the Research Communications team in Communications and Marketing would like to hear from academic colleagues who would be interested in contributing.

The Conversation has already featured pieces from Edinburgh academics on the upside of eating insects, the downside of fracking, and why young people should get a Covid booster. The site’s editors are keen to hear more from our community.

The Research Communications team can help you with an initial pitch, which, if successful, will lead to you working with The Conversation’s editors to craft your story. Once published, you will receive your own profile on the site and access to a dashboard to track readership and engagement with your article. The Conversation receives more than five million unique page views a month, and participation has led to some academics securing book deals, being asked to give evidence at Parliament, or forging research partnerships.

If you would like to find out more, or get involved, visit The Conversation or contact the Research Communications team.
