Last month, EIE London’s Innovation and Investment Showcase took place at the London Stock Exchange (LSE), with First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon hosting the event.

Supported by the Scottish Government’s Ecosystem Fund in connection with the Scottish Technology Ecosystem Review in 2020, EIE London was one of the main fixtures in 2022 for the EIE Investor Readiness Programme delivered by the University of Edinburgh’s Bayes Centre.

Danny Helson is Head of EIE Programme Delivery and Investor Relations. He shares more about the initiative: “The EIE Investor Readiness Programme is based at the Bayes Centre, the University’s Innovation Hub for Deep Tech, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

“EIE began life back in 2008 on the eighth floor of Appleton Tower, and connects nascent tech entrepreneurs seeking Seed to Series A investment with tech investors, and includes FanDuel, Pure LiFi, Sunamp and Speech Graphics among its alumni.

“More than 540 companies have taken part in EIE to date, and these companies have gone on to secure more than $1.5 billion investment.”

Danny was a key part of the team that attended the event in London. He talks more about its impact: “As part of the EIE Investor Readiness Programme this year, and with support from the Scottish Government’s Ecosystem Fund, the EIE London Innovation and Investment Showcase took place at the London Stock Exchange. The event has strengthened the gateway to global investment and finance for Scotland’s most innovative companies.

“The EIE Investor Readiness Programme is the largest Tech Investor Programme outside London.”

The event created vital links that will be strengthened with the EIE annual showcase later this year. Danny explains more: “In alignment with the University of Edinburgh’s vision and purpose, EIE seeks to inspire and harness the global power of data driven innovation, entrepreneurship, and impact investment to make the world a better place by addressing tomorrow’s greatest challenges today.

“This year’s annual EIE technology investor showcase event will take place on our virtual platform on 6th October, and we would encourage all staff and students with an entrepreneurial curiosity to join us for the day. Who knows, it could be you pitching for investment before too long!”

The EIE Team is also Official Nominator for the Earthshot Prize, a new global environment prize, designed to incentivise change and help repair our planet over the next ten years. it was launched by Prince William and the Royal Foundation in October 2020. The EIE22 annual Investor Conference takes place on Thursday 6 October 2022, when this year’s 36-strong cohort of technology companies pitch for seed to Series A plus investment to UK and international investors.
