Exceptional payment for staff

Principal and Vice-Chancellor Professor Peter Mathieson has announced that the Senior Leadership Team had discussed how they could best recognise the huge contribution staff have made across our University community over the past very challenging two years.

In his email Professor Mathieson said: “We have decided that we would like to offer all staff an exceptional payment in recognition of the tremendous efforts you have made to deliver on the breadth of our University’s work over such difficult times.

“All staff will receive a £500 exceptional payment or pro-rata equivalent if you work part-time. The Senior Leadership Team and I are very pleased that we are able to make this offer given the University’s stronger than expected performance in the current year.

“This is in addition to the steps that we have already taken this year, including doubling investment in our annual staff reward scheme. We are committed to a fair offering for staff and doing what we can. That commitment underpins the range of generous staff benefits that we already offer, including on flexible working and family friendly policies and our commitment to the Voluntary Living Wage.

“I hope that this exceptional offer comes as welcome news as many of you may be about to take some well-earned holiday over the next few weeks. For those of you who are taking a holiday, I hope you have a restorative break.  For those of you who are working through, my thanks and appreciation as always”

The Senior Leadership team will be reaching out to staff soon with further details.
