International Student Photography Competition

The annual Edinburgh Global international student photography competition winners have been selected.

The theme of this competition was Explore Edinburgh and Edinburgh Global received entries from students representing more than 30 different countries. Entries were invited across four categories – City, Campus, Community, Abroad – and they showed the immense talent and creativity of Edinburgh’s international student body.

First prize – Mingchen Zhang

Second prize – Rui Zhang

Abroad category prize – Rachel Maguire

Arctic local – Reindeer in Northern Norway taken when I was on a semester abroad in Tromsø Norway.

Campus category prize – Maitha Qassim

Sitting on different ends of the knowledge spectrum enables engineers and lawyers to develop unique perspectives regarding the world around us to make the world a better place.

City category prize – Emily Qvist-Baudry

Forth Bridges in the sky.

Community category prize – Zeliang Lyu

One cold winter morning the JMCC had prepared breakfast for us. The cold weather contrasts with warm light. It represents the warm help that the University community provided during the lockdown. The community always makes me feel safe and happy.

People’s choice prize – Sachinda Witharanage

McEwan Hall is the graduation hall of the University of Edinburgh. It is a place where many great success stories begin with the end of one success story which is presented in an August assembly.

Principal’s choice prize – Ruibo Zhang

This photo was taken on Calton Hill in November. Here we could see the full view of Princes Street. The combination of yellow leaves and the sunset brought a warm atmosphere.
