Senior leadership team opportunities

Reading time: 2 minutes
As several members of the University’s senior leadership team are approaching the end of their terms of office, an exercise is underway to recruit for a number of opportunities to join the team.

Most of these posts will replace existing roles and will not make the senior team any bigger. Recruitment is underway for two Vice-Principal Heads of College in the College of Science & Engineering and the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences, and for the substantive post of Vice-Principal Research and Enterprise.

The only new role being recruited is that of Provost. This role is common to universities in North America and Australasia, instead of the more traditional Senior Vice-Principal role which most Scottish universities have had. The Provost will act as the Chief Academic Officer and lead all academic staff across teaching and research. They will also deputise for the Principal when required.

The recruitment process for these four roles is being delivered by our recruitment partner, Perrett Laver and adverts have been published in phases. Applications for the Provost and Vice-Principal Research and Enterprise have recently closed, and the deadline for the Vice-Principal Heads of College will close at midday on 11 October 2021 for.

Professor Peter Mathieson, Principal and Vice-Chancellor, said:

“I hope and expect that the opportunities to join our Senior Leadership Team will attract high quality applicants from inside and outside the University. The newly refreshed team will put the University in the very best position to deliver on our Strategy 2030 ambitions and drive us forward on all fronts as we emerge from the pandemic, further develop our status as a world class university, and focus both locally and globally on research, teaching, knowledge exchange and societal improvement.”

Further information and full details of the posts available can be found on the Perrett Laver website.
