Registration is now open for this year’s Learning & Teaching Conference focused on ‘Curriculum as a site for transformation’. Following the success of last year’s online conference, the 2021 conference will take place online on 15, 16 and 17 June 2021.

There is an exciting and packed programme of presentations and interactive sessions which will start on Tuesday 15 June with opening comments from the Principal, Professor Peter Mathieson, and Vice Principal (Students), Professor Colm Harmon.

This year’s keynote speakers are Professor Kerri-Lee Krause, Provost and Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Avondale University College, Australia (until recently at the University of Melbourne) and Professor Rowena Arshad, Professor Emerita and Personal Chair of Multicultural and Anti-Racist Education at the University of Edinburgh.

This year the conference is opening its virtual doors more widely with the first day events open to staff and student colleagues internationally as well as at the University of Edinburgh. The second and third days of the conference will be open to University staff and students only, and there is a diverse programme of papers, posters with videos, workshops, panels, networking sessions, and asynchronous activities for you to choose from. Running throughout the conference, there are eight key conference themes:

  • Building community
  • Innovation in science teaching
  • Equality, diversity, inclusion and social justice
  • Experiential, place-based and problem-based learning
  • Assessment and Feedback for the future
  • New lessons in digital teaching – insights from hybrid and online learning
  • Student engagement and involvement
