Celebrating our colleagues – 13 April

Each fortnight bulletin highlights and celebrates the latest prizes awarded to our fellow staff members. Congratulations to all involved.

Elham Kashefi, Professor of Quantum Computing in the School of Informatics, has received a les Margaret Award in recognition of her work in quantum cloud computing and quantum computing verification.

Davide Michieletto, Royal Society University Research Fellow, has received an Early Career Award from the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Statistical Mechanics and Thermodynamics Group. He is based in the School of Physics & Astronomy and the Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine.

Francisca Mutapi, Professor of Global Health Infection and Immunity and Deputy Co-Director of TIBA (Tackling Infections to Benefit Africa), has been selected as a TED2021 Fellow. The programme celebrates those that work on world-changing ideas.

 

The Political Studies Association has recognised three members of staff from the School of Social and Political Science in their annual conference which was held virtually at the end of March.

Dr Sarah Liu, Lecturer in Gender and Politics has won the Bernard Crick Prize for Outstanding Teaching.

Dr Marc Geddes, Senior Lecturer in Politics, has won the Mackenzie Book Prize for the best book published in political science in 2020, for his monograph ‘Dramas at Westminster: Select Committees and the Quest for Accountability’.

Dr Meryl Kenny, Senior Lecturer in Gender and Politics, has been awarded the Richard Rose Prize, which celebrates the work of younger scholars who have made a distinctive contribution to the study of British politics.
