Four members of the University community have been recognised in the Queen’s New Year Honours list.
Professor Wendy Bickmore, Director of the MRC Human Genetics Unit, was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in recognition of her services to biomedical sciences and to women in science.
Dr Heather Bacon, Animal Welfare and Veterinary Outreach Manager at the Jeanne Marchig International Centre for Animal Welfare Education, was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her services to veterinary education, animal welfare and to charity in the UK and abroad.
Professor Bashabi Fraser, Honorary Fellow at the Centre for South Asian Studies, was appointed CBE for services to education, culture and integration in Scotland.
Caroline Gardner, member of the University Court, the University’s governing body, was appointed CBE for services to the Scottish Public Sector. Caroline leads Audit Scotland as Auditor General for Scotland.
